What time do you go to bed and wake up?

I try to get into bed by 10:30/11pm latest and wake up between 7:15-8am depending on what I have on that morning.

What is your night time routine?

My night time routine is generally very simple! I’ll often have wound down with some tv or light reading after which I’ll prepare for bed by writing in my daily journal often with a scented candle burning. I turn my lights out after and (hopefully) snooze away soon.

Describe your perfect night’s sleep

Getting into bed before 10pm and staying asleep for at least 7 hours without any interruptions- I’m still adjusting to the many colourful sounds of the night in London so this can definitely be a struggle!

What helps you get to sleep and what tips do you have for when you can’t get to sleep?

Candles and journaling are my general go-to. If I’ve had a difficult day and know I’m really going to struggle to switch off then I’ll turn to hot drinks (tea being the most effective for sure!), yoga for relaxation or a mindfulness app like Headspace.

Why is sleep so important to you?

Without it I’m not only incredibly slow and unable to work productively but my mood is hugely affected- it’s both incredible and horrendous how extremely down I can get without it! Thankfully I think we’ve moved on as a culture from the days of admiring those who claim to function well on 4 hours of sleep to one that recognises its significance for both our physical and mental health.

How does sleep help you be the best version of you?

It’s the single most effective way for me recharge. As a result, I wake up ready for the day, keen to get started and genuinely make the most of it!
